Mediation is a guided conversation between parties who can no longer resolve things on their own. No judge deciding and no lawyers trading positions, but one independent third party who gives the conversation structure, keeps the subjects on the table and works towards agreements that are then recorded in writing. As an MfN registered mediator I do this in business and private matters, in Dutch and in English.

A conflict within an organisation rarely stands alone. I focus on the concrete situation while also examining the pattern behind it. A problem is only truly resolved when the same behaviour or dynamic does not return with different people.

Mediation is cheaper than court proceedings and lawyers. The costs are shared, because you want to reach an agreement together. That makes it more equitable.

THE PROCESS
Intake
A separate conversation with each party. I test whether mediation is the right route, and what each side actually needs to be able to move.
Joint sessions
Three to five sessions of roughly two hours. Structured, direct and firmly held. The pattern underneath the conflict is named, not avoided.
Agreements
From grievance to actual steps: who does what, by when, and what happens if it slips.
On paper
The outcome is recorded in a settlement agreement or parenting plan, ready for your lawyer, HR or the court.
How a conversation with me actually runs.
I do not rush anyone. Nor do I let the conversation go around in circles indefinitely. I keep the pace, uncover what lies beneath the discussion and keep returning to the decision that truly matters. Speaking louder does not give anyone more room.
Sometimes the blockage is not on the table, but beneath it: loyalty, an old agreement or a history that was never brought to a close. Then I bring in systemic work, briefly, concretely and only when it helps untie the knot. What we agree is recorded, so no one has to fight the same battle again next quarter.
